Our reading program is Scott Foresman Reading Street.
This week we will be reading What About Me by Ed Young.
Look for more information about the story and vocbulary words on the weekly newsletter page and on the "Family Times" reading newsletter brought home on Monday each week. There will be a story test on Thursday this week.
Accelerated Reader (“AR”):
The Accelerated Reader Program is a vital part of our reading curriculum. Your child will be required to earn at least 10 points each nine weeks, and his/her average percent correct should be at least 80 %. Two reading grades will come from “AR” each grading period. One grade is based on the number of points required (10 points = 100). The other will be based on the average percent correct on tests taken during the nine weeks.
Success in reading is vital to all other parts of education and in everyday life!! Nothing improves reading like reading!! PLEASE take an active role in helping your child become the best reader that he/she can possibly be by encouraging him/her to read, read, read!!!!!!! I do not ask this of you without promising to do everything possible in the classroom to instill the love of reading in your child and to help him/her be the best reader possible!!
These are some great links for reading fun!
